IMPACT Community Health Service (ICHS) has had an incredible year of growth and change, reflecting our ongoing commitment to serving the Discovery Coast community. As we move forward, we’re excited to share the latest developments and our vision for the future.
ICHS will be transitioning out of mental health service delivery in the Discovery Coast at this time. Moving forward, these services will be delivered by Head to Health. For those needing mental health support, you can easily connect with Head to Health by calling 1800 595 212 or visiting their website. Alternatively, reach out to your GP or one of our dedicated ICHS nurses who remain available to connect individuals with the support they need.
In addition to this transition, ICHS is celebrating a significant milestone in November: the one-year anniversary of our GP Led Integrated Health Service. In the 2023-24 financial year, this innovative approach has welcomed 1,299 new patients and delivered a wide range of services, including Chronic Disease Management, Heart Checks, Skin Checks, and Palliative Care.
"We’re incredibly proud of the impact our GP practice has had," Ms Mackie said.
"Our integrated service model has made healthcare more accessible and comprehensive for our community, and we look forward to continuing this work."
Looking ahead, ICHS is making significant strides with its Master Plan, aimed at expanding and enhancing our services. Thanks to the generous support from Gladstone Regional Council, which has provided $56,000 towards our strategic planning, we are better positioned to understand and plan for the future of healthcare in the Discovery Coast.
"This funding is a testament to the importance of our work and the trust the community places in us," Ms Mackie said.
"It will enable us to better serve our community’s evolving needs."
Recently, ICHS showcased its services to the community and demonstrated the breadth of our offerings at our local Health Expo, run in conjunction with the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service and Check-Up Gateway Schools. The event was a success, highlighting the positive impact of our work and fostering valuable connections with both residents and fellow service providers.
As we continue to grow, we are also looking forward to hosting a professional networking event later this month, which will bring together leaders and professionals to explore new ideas and collaborative opportunities.
"Events like these are essential for building stronger ties within our community and exploring innovative ways to enhance health and well-being," Ms Mackie said.
ICHS remains deeply committed to supporting our community through a wide range of essential community services.
"Our mission has always been to strengthen and support the Discovery Coast community," Ms Mackie said.
"We’re very excited about what the future holds and are dedicated to continuing our work with the same passion and commitment."
