The inaugural Christmas Ball Fundraiser held at Drift & Wood Restaurant & Bar on Saturday night was an overwhelming success, raising $6,000 to support IMPACT Community Health Service (ICHS) in enhancing healthcare for the Discovery Coast community.
The evening saw over 140 guests enjoying a beautifully curated three-course meal crafted by Chef Gracie Sharwood, followed by lively entertainment from Paddy and Veronica, with Veronica also celebrated as a valued member of the ICHS reception team.
Pamela Mackie, Practice Manager of ICHS, expressed her gratitude for the community’s support.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by our community,” she said.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the slit lamp, a vital diagnostic tool for detailed eye examinations, purchased from the generous donations of those in attendance.
Dr. Dani Buchanan, accompanied by nurse Kirstin James, demonstrated the slit lamp’s functionality, explaining its role in diagnosing conditions such as retinal detachment, tumours, and bleeds, as well as identifying foreign objects in the eye.
“This slit lamp is the only one available in Agnes Water, and it will greatly benefit our patients by allowing us to conduct thorough eye examinations and diagnose conditions more effectively,” Ms Mackie added.
Distinguished guests included Member for Burnett, Mr. Stephen Bennett MP, IMPACT Community Services Managing Director, Tanya O’Shea, and General Manager of Innovation, Nathan Spruce.
The event’s success was made possible through the collective efforts of numerous supporters. Special thanks are extended to the event’s lead organisers, Gracie Sharwood, host for the evening and chef at Drift & Wood Restaurant and David Allen, as well as Sammy from 1770 Wedding & Events and Kim Cooke from Kim Cooke Photography Art Design for designing the invitations and tickets.
A heartfelt acknowledgment is also extended to an anonymous philanthropist who generously matched every dollar raised, doubling the impact of the fundraiser. IMPACT Community Health Service sincerely thanks all who attended, contributed, and made the night unforgettable. Their support reflects the strength and generosity of the Discovery Coast community, united in its commitment to improving local healthcare.
