The purpose of the Impact Community Health Service (ICHS) Advisory Committee (IAC) is to offer strategic guidance and counsel to IMPACT Community Health Services, aligning closely with the health aspirations and requirements of the Discovery Coast community.
Expectations and Responsibilities
The IAC will undertake scheduled committee meetings to discuss and deliberate on various aspects of IMPACT's operations, community health, and strategic initiatives, including:
- Strategic Guidance: Provide strategic advice and guidance to IMPACT Community Health Services, aligning recommendations with the organisation's overarching mission and objectives, by offering insights, recommendations, and guidance on key initiatives and decisions.
- Community Alignment and Advocacy: Ensure that the strategies and actions of IMPACT align with the aspirations and needs of the Discovery Coast community, fostering a strong connection between the healthcare services and the community's expectations. Act as advocates for the healthcare needs and priorities of the Discovery Coast community, ensuring that these are accurately represented in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Needs Assessment: Engage in regular assessments of the community's health needs, keeping abreast of changing demographics, health trends, and emerging issues to inform IMPACT's service delivery.
- Communication and Collaboration: Foster open communication and collaboration between the committee members, IMPACT staff, and relevant stakeholders, promoting a transparent and cooperative approach.
- Feedback and Recommendations: Provide constructive feedback and recommendations on IMPACT's existing programs, services, and community engagement efforts, aiming to enhance overall effectiveness.
- Quality Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on the quality of healthcare services, patient experiences, and community engagement initiatives. Regularly assess the effectiveness of IMPACT's programs and services, recommending adjustments and improvements as needed.
- Advise on Resource Allocation: Assist in advising on the allocation of resources, ensuring that they are directed to areas that align with community health priorities and strategic goals.
- Community Engagement Initiatives: Support and participate in community engagement initiatives organised by IMPACT, helping to connect with residents and gather valuable input on healthcare services.
- Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies and initiatives that positively impact community health, representing the interests of the Discovery Coast community at local and regional levels, ensuring that ICHS is well positioned to address emerging challenges and opportunities.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Promote diversity and inclusion within the committee and advocate for healthcare services that address the unique needs of diverse populations within the community including those related to age, culture, and socioeconomic factors.
- Education and Awareness: Support educational initiatives and awareness campaigns to enhance community understanding of health-related issues, preventive measures, and available healthcare services.
- Evaluation and Improvement: Participate in the evaluation of the committee's own effectiveness and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, ensuring that the IAC remains responsive and valuable to both IMPACT and the community.
Session and Procedural Matters
The IMPACT Advisory Committee will comprise the following membership:
- ICHS Team – Practice Manager, Clinical Lead and Consultant
- IMPACT Community Services Board Member
- IMPACT Community Services Executive Leadership Team Member
- Up to four Community Representatives
Members will:
- Have a genuine interest in health care
- Preferably have experience in the health care sector
- Be keen to realise and implement health care reforms in the Discovery Coast region
